Set in the rugged heart of Pennsylvania, Rothrock by UTMB® showcases some of the most technical and demanding trails in the Northeast. Born from a passion for wild, rocky, East Coast mountain running, the event has grown into a premier challenge drawing trail runners from across the country and beyond.
Runners take on a punishing mix of boulder fields, steep ascents, dense forest, and exposed ridgelines throughout Rothrock State Forest, weaving through iconic terrain such as Shingletown Gap, Tussey Mountain, and Bear Meadows.

HOW CAN YOU GET THERE?
Rothrock State Forest is located in central Pennsylvania, near the trail-running hub of State College.
The nearest airport is University Park Airport (SCE), just 15–20 minutes away, with regular flights from major hubs including Philadelphia (PHL), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Newark (EWR), and Detroit (DTW).
You can hire a car at the airport for maximum flexibility, though parking near trailheads can be limited during race weekend. Alternatively, you can travel into State College by bus from nearby cities or use our Meet and Greet Transfer Service from the airport or bus station to make your arrival smooth and stress-free.
