Rotorua is well connected to the rest of New Zealand by road, located on State Highway 5. Driving from Auckland takes just under 3 hours, with a 1 hour drive from both Tauranga and Taupo. Trains also run regularly from all 3.
The closest international airport is Auckland (AKL), 220 km away, with a number of domestic flights to nearby Rotorua Airport (ROT).
