This year Portland Green at Newcastle University is home to the Great North Run Accommodation Village.
Hosting 100’s of athletes and spectators it will have that “Olympic Village” vibe and at around a 25-minute stroll to the start line area, it’s in a perfect location. In fact, the area is packed with quirky pubs and cultural hotspots, artists’ studios, music venues and some of the most popular independent restaurants in town. The area’s energy and charm make it an exciting place to stay.
Rooms here are private, en-suite rooms within larger apartments with communal, open-plan lounge/kitchen areas. All bedrooms feature a single bed with underbed storage, wardrobe with mirror, desk, and en-suite shower room. If you are travelling with 4-7 people, you can even opt to book out the entire apartment, giving you private access to each of the self-contained bedrooms and the communal areas – perfect for families or groups travelling together. (Bedding, towels and toilet rolls are provided. Crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment is not included.)

All rooms must check out on race day morning. Luggage storage is available on-site or GNR baggage busses will transport your luggage to the finish line for collection.
If you are not booking an entire apartment, you will need 1 single room for each person in your party. Wherever possible, we will make sure that you are in the same apartment together.

The Great North Run Accommodation Village is located within a short walk of Newcastle City centre and around a 25-minute walk to the Great North Run start line area. shuttle services will be available from the finish line which is located 14 miles away.
